SelfDesign Learning Foundation (SDLF) is committed to providing sufficient orientation to new contractors and support providers, and training to volunteers and board members to develop an understanding of their role and acquire the background knowledge and skills necessary to carry out their responsibilities effectively and efficiently.

The SelfDesign Learning Foundation will provide sufficient orientation to new contractors and support providers, and training to volunteers and board members to develop an understanding of their role and acquire the background knowledge and skills necessary to carry out their responsibilities effectively and efficiently (including how to function within and use our platform).

The Board orientation will include an overview with background and historical documents and bylaws.
Contractors, Support Providers and Volunteers
The orientation for contractors, support providers and volunteers covers topics such as health and safety, privacy, security and navigating the online working environment that are governed by legislation or required to complete work in our systems and programs.
The Chief Administration and Services Officer or delegate ensures that:
- Orientation materials are up-to-date and in compliance with legislative requirements through consultation with content owners and subject matter experts,
- Timeframes for annual re-orientation are published with a month’s advance notice,
- Accessibility and accommodations supports for completing orientation are provided upon request,
- Foundation Leads have up-to-date completion information for contractors under their purview.
Foundation Leads or delegates ensure that for contractors under their purview:
- Orientation is completed within 30 days for new contractors,
- Annual re-orientation is completed within the published time frames,
- Contract-specific orientation is provided at the start of a new contract.
