THIS POLICY APPLIES TO: Contractors – Individuals engaged to provide services under a contract with SelfDesign Learning Foundation Support Providers – Individuals engaged under a contract or agreement with SelfDesign Learning Foundation to provide services for a specific learner Families – Learners and parents(s)/guardian(s) of learners participating in SelfDesign Learning Foundation’s programs Volunteers – Individuals providing goods/services under the terms of an agreement with SelfDesign Learning Foundation Board Members – Members of the Board of Directors for SelfDesign Learning Foundation and the Foundation for SelfDesign (FSD)

Policy Statement

SelfDesign Learning Foundation (SDLF) is committed to the belief that strong leadership and administration are essential to the effective and efficient operation of SDLF.

Policy

SelfDesign Learning Foundation will provide a fair contracting process that meets the requirements of the Canada Human Rights Act, to be non-discriminatory and to provide accommodation throughout all assessment and selection activities. The purpose of this contracting policy is to apply the principles of fair contracting to all elements of the recruitment process, ensuring consistent, equitable contracting practices that support a skilled, diverse workforce capable of providing excellent service.

Protocol

Recruitment And Selection Of Contractors

The President and CEO will delegate responsibility for recruiting, interviewing, and selection of contractors.
1. The President and CEO has full authority to recruit for and select Foundation Leadership contractors.
2. The Foundation Leadership contractors are delegated full authority to recruit and select contractors for all other contracts within the limitations of legislation, budget allocations, and Ministry of Education and Child Care and SelfDesign Learning Foundation policies.

HR will provide direction and guidance to leaders regarding the recruitment process, including creating the contract opportunity posting, advertising, interviewing, evaluation criteria, reference checking and selection of contractors.
Applicants will be asked to disclose relationships or close connections to current or past SelfDesign contractors or board members prior to being offered a contract. In the event of a disclosure, SDLF will determine and take appropriate actions to maintain transparency and segregation of responsibilities.
Recruitment processes will encourage applications from members of groups with historical and/or current barriers to equity.
